Root Canal Treatment
If you have tooth with large cavity, tooth pain, toothache, or a chipped tooth which is severely broken, whose internal structures are damaged, or has infection, you may benefit from root canal treatment. Also called endodontics, root canal theraphy can restore your tooth to its healthiest state by removing damaged tissue from the inside of your tooth's root. Your doctor, who may be a general dentist or an endodontist (a root canal theraphy specialist), can evaluate your tooth's health as well as provide the expert care that your tooth needs.
During a root canal treatment, the doctor carefully removes the pulp/nerve inside the tooth, cleans, disinfects and shapes the root canals, and places a root canal sealant to seal the space. Once the root canal therapy is completed, the tooth must be crowned to protect it from any future fracture or breakage since the tooth with a root canal treatment tends to become more brittle.
